Camp Harbor View
Radiothon

All of us at Greater Media Boston, Mayor Thomas Menino and the Camp Harbor View Foundation would like to thank you for your generous support of our first ever Radiothon for the kids of Camp Harbor View on June 28th.

Your generous donations and bids on auction items helped make the summer camp dream of hundreds of Boston area children a reality. With your help, we can make a difference in our city beginning with our future, the children.

Camp Harbor View is a constructive and positive program for Boston’s city teenagers. Low-income youths often lack the resources to attend traditional summer camps. Camp Harbor View provides an opportunity each summer for 600 11-14 year olds to have fun, laugh, and meet new friends all while being challenged and inspired to grow as individuals.

The idea for the camp came about during a conversation between Mayor Menino and Jack Connors Jr. of the Boys and Girls Club of Boston. The Mayor expressed concern with the fact that violence among teenagers is a growing problem in many of the city’s neighborhoods. He suggested that the problem is particularly acute during the summer months when schools are out. He further suggested that an organized program wherein boys and girls might have a place to go every day with a structured environment might help alleviate this problem.

The kids are counting on you!
